We got our new cans! After a night with the medusa looking floor lamp, ceiling lights sure were a welcomed sight!!
As Geoff said, the ceiling looked like Swiss Cheese!
We had planned to have all of the lights line up with windows and all....but alas, the joists were in the way! And we aren't going to change those! What a mess. But Geoff did a bang up job getting them to look good. Once we get the track for over the dining area, we may put a few more cans on the end of the kitchen, but we'll see.
Helper Chris had to take his 15min government break, so he played with the Khakster! For a man who has 3 chihuahuas....he's quite taken with the big guy.
I didn't get the photo of the wires hanging down through all of the holes...what a sight that was! Here, you can also see where we had to patch a hole from the can that was over the old sink.
Putting in the LED lights. We found that we could put in regular renovation cans and then add the LED insert. Those came with the baffle and rim so we didn't have to buy those separately. We could have bought the entire LED cans, but overall, we were able to save some money going this route, plus, we can always go back to the incandescent should we want or need. With the LED, we could put more lights on the run AND we have 22 years before we have to buy a bulb.....now, if we can stay here that long...and you can bet all 13 are going to die on the same day!!
While Geoff was on the inside, Chris was on the outside stapling the wires next to the wall. See, we ran wires out the header and down the joist runs. That saved a lot of headache and drywall patching.
Today, I had asked them to finish the drywall in the house so that I could patch the nails and work on any tape joints over the weekend. (Geoff won't be back til Monday) So they had to raise the pot filler and put in a shut off valve. You would have thought that the plumber would have put that in, but he didn't. Not sure that we're real impressed with Kenny, the Plumber. Oh well, H was going to put that in, but Geoff just did it this afternoon. Then they got on to sheet rocking.
All but the last piece in....what a difference!
Geoff putting in the last strip. Then it was the 3 of us making a mad dash to clean and pick everything up. (they have about 45-60min drive home) They put the stove and counter top back for me to use this weekend. While it will be extremely wonderful to have it all done, I don't feel like I'm missing too much with counters, stove, sink and fridge...
Well, mudding, priming and painting are my goals for the weekend. Oh, first, I should decide on some colors....yikes!
Oh, has anyone tried that Frog Tape? It is the painter's tape that forms with the moisture of the paint to create a sealed edge, hence a great clean line? I'd like to try it but don't know how well it works. Let me know if you've used it....please?
