See we really DID have Nascar on the deck on Saturday night! I know it looks a bit washed out, but as it got darker, the view got better.
On Sunday, H got ambitious.... and he is SO excited about his new toy...
The Hedge Trimmer.
I guess that a man has never lived until he has his own hedge trimmer.

Look at all of the downed branches on the tarp! We were smart and laid those down before trimming. Made loading those darn bags much easier!
All done, even have the dog in the front door! You know that it had to be bad when we think that this is 100% better than it was!!
We found out about Ollas pots from our community garden guy.
They look a little differently in Spain, but here in the SE USA, we are using the terra cotta wine chiller buckets that you find at Hobby Lobby or someplace like that. (just make sure that your terra cotta does NOT have the drain hole at the bottom...or make sure that you plug it up!)

Soak them and then sink them into the soil near your plant. Then fill with water.
Put the coaster on top (to keep skeeters and critters out and the water from evaporating) and the water will wick thru the terra cotta to the soil and the plant. From what I've learned, the plant will wrap the pot with its roots to get the water. Just keep that filled and it will help you keep a consistent water supply to your plants. From what I've learned, it should take a few days to a week for it to become empty, which is enough time for you to remember to go and fill it back up!) That will be especially useful to keep away the end rot on tomatoes and keep your cucumbers blooming and producing! We are using these at home for our pepper and tomato plants. Give it a try...especially if you are in a drought area!
