Last week, Geoff did some small jobs for us as we didn't have the bookshelf. So he fixed the stairs to the attic and put new trim boards up. They had been demolished by the furnace installers a few years ago and we just never got around to fixing them. Jim had painted the ceiling, but this is where I can reach it all on a short ladder. I am going to paint it all the ceiling color and, hopefully, it will just blend in.
We decided to use a "classic cream" color for our new gutters, so we matched the trim paint to it. Here is the first sample of it. Jim painted all of the fascia so that when the gutter guys come back, they can just install over the newly painted fascia. We agree that the classic cream really matches the brick very well.
We also installed the new pot filler! Ain't it cool??
Geoff put a nice finish melamine behind the dishwasher, stove and beverage fridge. That will keep the insulation in place but we can access behind them should we ever need. Here the boys are hooking the stove back up.
The stove looks pretty good with the white counter top, but the back of it sticks up above the bottom of the pot filler. Oh well. Guess we won't be able to keep it. Shucks!

And it was a sad/exciting day all in one: getting closer to the end, but Geoff had to start packing up.
Trying to make some sense of it all.....Organized isn't one of his traits either. I do think he is our long lost little sibling!
There was supposed to be an afternoon rain, so he had to take care with what he put in the back of the truck and what needed to go in the extended cab.
On Friday and Saturday, I had the mad dash inside to get ready for our St. Patrick's Day party. The boxes of cabinets were pushed into the pantry and the living room and all got dusted, vacced and rearranged. H got to work outside. The patio cleans up real well, don'tcha think?

Minus the construction materials and tools....also minus the new paint and gutters. The darker gold is the new hardi plank. We only replaced what was in bad shape....2 coats of satin paint will help us get a few more years out of the siding.
The mower started right up! Good thing cuz we had some weeds that were getting kinda tall in the back. We had hoped that the cabinets would have been all done to show our neighbors and friends, but that was not to be. We had around 16 of us for the party. It was a lot of fun. H made his first corned beef brisket. It turned out very well and Linda brought the cabbage and Denise brought some soda bread and we made up some potatoes. Lots of fun and yummy desserts were brought too. Whew! The Guinness and bailey's chocolate cake that Mark and Amy brought over was so yummy that it was breakfast for a few days this past week!!
On Monday, the gutter guys came and put on the new, 6" gutters. They look really nice.
This guy was the main man. Both spoke Spanish better than English. They chattered ALL day long. And the main guy had a voice that I just expected him to start saying
"aribe, aribe, und-le, und-le"
"aribe, aribe, und-le, und-le"
Ok, so my Spanish spelling is bad, but just think Speedy Gonzales cartoon and you will get it.

Look at the pollen! Even the smallest of flowers have pine pollen on them!
It has hit full force! The cars are all a neon yellow. The spinach has a yellow hue to it, as do all of the flowers and just about anything that is outside.
Wednesday of this week, the pollen count was well over 9,000!
From the sounds of it, that is the highest EVER! We are down to 1,000 today, which is nice, but still very high. Most everyone is suffering to some extent. Everyone is just wanting some rain to wash most of it away.
Jim started painting the house this week. You can see that he's added the new green paint.....over the creamy yellow. We are liking it a lot! And we've had some great feedback from the neighbors.

The Melanders have given us some lotus, so we are trying to grow those this year. They are really cool and I'm sure that I will share more photos with you this summer.
The trim needs to be done on the door, but it looks good!
Around 830pm on Wednesday night, the huge semi came to the neighborhood to deliver our bookshelves!!! YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geoff was on the schedule for Thursday!
Geoff had 2 of the uppers installed by the time I go back from Bulloch Hall. WhooHooo!
We also got the call from Arturo that he had tome to come and finish the counter top! Our corner has been filled; it won't catch any cords from the outlet that is just above them. And it just looks complete now!

Today, Friday, it was moving stuff from the upstairs to new homes in the beautiful new cabinets! Joan came to help and we got all of the non food items into new homes! We managed to do so in just 3hrs! Alone, it would have taken me days! So there is now a method to the madness and other than getting some sturdy shelf supports (the triangle cabinets have wobbly shelves that need something more secure to hold them. A bummer that they didn't come with better brackets, but we can work around that)
Joan has a friend from Germany who can make some great suggestions as to how to maximize the pantry area, so I am hoping that we can have him over in the next week or so. In the meantime, we are going to keep the food items up in the loft cuz we still have to lay the floor and we don't want to move things 2x.
I'll try to clean all of the counters off and then show you better photos tomorrow.
But overall, life is looking like it is getting back to a fun, new normal.
