It's about time....

We've been talking about it for years.  No, really, we have.  After our friends in Australia told us of their decade long drought, we have been talking about how precious rainwater is to our gardens.  Every spring, we go thru the motions of looking at what designs they have at the big box stores.  We've always been a bit disappointed so we've not grabbed any.

Our catalyst was seeing Mon Sheri's when we were in the Philly area.  Her's are just the inexpensive ones that the city/county sold so they aren't the best of lookers.  But they do what she needs.  So we decided that we were going to bite the bullet and get some!  So we got 2.  We are going to see how much we like them while scheming the acquisition of enough to cover the rest of our downspouts and the end of the French drain 1/2way down the hillside.
Just about the time that H was finishing putting them in, we got a beautiful 30 min rain shower.  After checking, the closest barrel had about 4" and the far one had about 2"!  We're on our way!

The rest of the day was spent putting in the calla lilies that Mom gave me from my childhood playmate, Mrs. D'Orazio, while H spent time watering and fertilizing the front yard.  Then up to the garden, the farmer's mkt and then to Lowe's and HD.  Back home to veg a bit before showering and making cheezy jalapeno grits for tomorrow's lunch with M&D.  H looked for the No Busch Race but it was preempted by tennis for a bit.  It was put onto ESPN Classics, which we no longer get for some reason.  So H called customer service to see what was up.  In the meantime, I did find that tennis was over and the race was on where we could watch it.  H laughed because the gal was helpful while still trying to up sell the other premium stations.   After going thru her spiel, she asked what she could do.  He jokingly mentioned that she could cut his NFL Ticket fee in 1/2.  She came back and took $10/month off of the Ticket for us!  I guess that my mantra is still true; "if you don't ask, you don't receive"
