flooding in georgia......

We've had lots of rain the last week or so and it is to continue for several more days. Actually, we've had 7" since Friday. (about 3" came last night while we were sleeping.) West of here had about 10" in 12 hrs yesterday. With the hills and valleys around here, it can pool and cause some strong currents. Only a few roads have been washed out and there are concerns that there will be some problems on a few of the interstates. Not many stories of trees falling on homes, which, from our limited experience here, is a GOOD THING! On the news this am, a woman walked out of her home and had to be rescued in her front yard. But so did the police and firemen who came to help her! Other stories are that there are not enough rescue workers to go around.

Makes you think, eh?

Oh, they don't have many snow days down here, but at least 3 counties have closed schools today for flooding.

We are safe here. (our county's schools have NOT closed) We saw the stream behind us at the highest level yet. The water was easily as high as the culvert. We had several inches at the bottom of our back yard. We've heard that it can go 1/2 way up the hill in our back yard but that hasn't happened yet. Thankfully. And most likely, it won't. Of course, the dogs love to play in our "pool"!

Ugh, messy mutts!
