Howdy! Long time no type. Oh well. Life has been busy in a great kinda way! Work was busy my first week and a half. I had told them that I had a few things coming up that I would have to have time off when they hired me and that was fine with them. So, after cleaning the house and packing, H took me to the train to catch my flight to PHL. MonSheri' needed help driving the dogs and cat to FL. We figured that if I helped her on the long stretch to ATL, then she would have a reasonable 8 hr by herself down to Orlando. As always, moving seems to always be hectic. What to take, leave, toss, have shipped later or will drive back and take home at a later date??? Egad, the car was packed and repacked a few times!

On the road! Her dogs are small, so they have thrones to get tied to. The cat had never been in a car for that long before, and ultimately, did very well.

For some reason, I thought that Cookie and Ruth were coming late on Saturday night, but it was late on Friday night! So I had to cram some extra painting of the loft, laundry and grocery shopping into one less day. And I had to forgo some of my preparatory cooking. Oh well....we had one more day to play!!!
After getting to bed around 2am, we got up and had bloody marys and hung out for awhile. It was nice and relaxing....the weather was cool, but much warmer than they have been having in MN
Early afternoon, after my meeting at work, we all went up to Gibbs Gardens. Apparently, a man wanted to create a public garden. There is something to see there almost year round and right now, it is the daffodils!

Gibbs Gardens are about an hour from our house and it was a nice and easy drive. Come on down and we'll see what else they have to see. A friend from Bulloch Hall told me about it and I'm so glad that she did!

Ruth and H said that the Manor had refreshements. They were hoping for adult beverages, but, alas, our trek was fruitless for them.
Ruth liked the little flutist. Of course, she had to give him bunny ears!

On the way home from Gibbs, we saw 3 balloons being filled, ready to go up in a store parking lot. We swung around and got parked just as they were lifting off.
It was very Cool!
The real reason for their trip was so that Cookie could go to the quilt show at Bulloch Hall. Yes, that cat is quilted...all little pieces of fabric sewn on to create it. Lots of hard work. I worked my 3 hour shift so that Cookie could explore to her heart's content. Several from the quilting guild were there to chat with and I think they all want her to move here so that she can join them!
Felted wool. It was cool. IF I would ever applique, it would be with the felt....no ends to tuck under!

All of this is appliqued and embroidered to outline some of the buildings. Another cool one.
We went to the Plum Cafe for lunch. It is one of my favorites. It was sprinkling when we were done, so we drove up the road and did some window shopping in some of the cool little shops in Roswell.
We enjoyed a lot of time on the deck!
Cozmo finally went to Cookie. He isn't noted for his warmth and eagerness to sit on others' laps. Just H and mine. But everyone seems to want to hold him. Now, if that was Khaki, you wouldn't have to ask twice!!!
On Tuesday, we went up to Dahlonega. First, we had lunch at the Smith House. It was family style service. Different. Very southern style food...fried chicken, fried okra, grits, boiled green beans, sweet potatoes.
Then we wandered around. The weather was gorgeous. Cookie and I went to the Gold Museum. Gold had been discovered in them there parts and it sparked the Trail of Tears, where the Cherokee were removed to Oklahoma. The Cherokee had the last laugh, cuz where they are now has an abundance of OIL. But, it was a gross injustice, none the less.
The General Store was a hit!
Then we tried a wine tasting. Habersham Winery, to be exact. It was surprisingly very good!
We even got Ruth to try some! She likes her Bud Light Lime....but she enjoyed some of these.
On the way home, we stopped at the outlets. Cookie & Ruth tried on some glasses at the Sunglass Hut. We didn't buy much.
H had made up some shrimp and grits for us to come home to.
We had a fun evening. A tad bit of adult beverages were consumed!
And laughs abounded!
On Wed, the girls and I went over to Marietta. Cookie wanted to go to a few quilt stores, Ruth wanted to get to one of the Harley stores and I thought maybe we could go to the Root House, another historical house. Well, midway through, we had lunch at a lovely place and scrapped the idea of the Root House. Then it was off to another quilt store, then the Cajun Meat Market for us and a few neighbors then home to play with PUPPY DOGS!

Thursday, we took Cook & Ruth to the airport and then directly headed for Chattanooga to see the Pedersons! It was right at 2 hrs and we managed to find them just as lunch was being served to them. So we ordered and heard the tales of their trip. They were definitely having fun!
They decided to stay at the ChooChoo Hotel. You can even rent out a train car room, if you are willing to shell out some extra cash.
After we ate lunch, we headed up to Chickamagua National Battlefield. H & I had been there before and really liked it, so we weren't disappointed that that is where we ended up. The Pederson boys were happy to explore the trails and climb on rocks.
After leaving there, we went exploring. We had to take 2 cars as there
were 6 of us. Here is a photo that they can't get themselves of their

We found the premier hand gliding facility in the US! Run off that ramp and off you go! It was too windy for anyone to be launching, but there were quite a few hand gliders in the air. It was WAY COOL!!!
On Friday, the old folks got up early and went to Waffle House for breakfast and then headed to the train station. It was a Train museum with a working train! (there was a theme to our journey, eh?!)
Well, After that, we headed back to the hotel and bid our fond farewells and headed back home. It was a load of fun and are so glad that we were invited to spend a bit of their family vacation with them!
Now, we are trying to get back into the swing of things. It is in the 70;s today. Just georgeous! Did a little gardening and will be heading over to the neighbors' St. Patty's Day gathering here soon. Guess I should go and make myself pretty!
