Here's a test for ya......I will try to post from my fone again.....Well, that didn't work too well, so I'll start fresh:
I flew to San Fran on Thursday afternoon and made my way to San Ramon & to H's hotel. He was in meetings so he couldn't come and get me. He also had meetings on Fri am, so I hung out at the hotel til he was done. Then we headed north!
It was beautiful heading up the the Napa Valley. We found a room just outside of downtown and hiked in for some good eats. Our hotel recommended that we head to Oxbow Market, cuz that is where the foodies hang out. It was right up our alley.
We went to Hog Island for some great oysters and mussels. It was a great lunch.
We then wandered down to Eiko's for a happy hour glass of Cellar 8. It was delish!
Then we went to Sushi Mambo for dinner. Yum Yum!
Oh, I forgot to show you our wonderful rental.....look familiar, Deb???
Baby blue Crown Vic....
H even drove like an old man in it!
Went to the Napa Farmer's Market. It was nice.
We finished out our shopping inside Oxbow Market. We were gathering yummies for lunch.
We went out of our way to go to our favorite winery from our last trip to CA.
We then went to another that was recommended.
The views were amazing. The wine....not so much.
We found Jack London Park, where we enjoyed our picnic spread.
We then hit the road for Windsor. Turns out that we like the sleepy little town.
They have a great Irish pub, Patterson's. We loved it!
We liked their farmer's market even more....altho there wasn't a cheese maker there this week.
We went to Heraldsburg with the idea that we were going to attend the Pinot Noir festival, but it was too crowded for our taste....so we went to the recommended Bear Republic Brewing Co. It was a good place to relax.
While we were on our way, we stopped at Rodney Strong. We like Rodney's juices and really enjoyed their presentation of how wines are made. Neither of us were really in the mood for wine, so we just wandered at our leisure.
We stopped to watch a few guys clean out the stainless vat....then out popped a guy! then another!!
Wondered if they did that with the oak ones, too?
We took the back road to Bodega Bay and stumbled upon Joseph Phelps Winery. What a great stumble!
Bodega Bay was awesome! What a place for a sunset!
We went to Lucas' for dinner. Wish we had known that the seafood stew was enough for 2. The 2 qt pot was full! But we did manage to finish it all.
In the morning, we found RoadHouse Coffee shop. It was a great little spot.
We drove up HWY 1 to Jenner before heading south again. We found a beach to eat the rest of our picnic lunch.
It was a foggy and squally morning. We had a few sprinkles, but managed to avoid most of it.
Lunch was yummy! Found a great big rock to serve as our chairs and table...all in one!
Then we headed south to the city.
The GPS took us off of the interstate and took us through some neighborhoods. We had the time, so it was good.
Once we got to the hotel, we headed downtown.
It was the start of the Dodgers/Cardinals playoff game. So we headed to the ferry dock and found a great little spot to watch a bit of it and have a great view.
Then it was off to dinner with the neighbor's son. We went to Nojo's for a small plate Japanese dinner. We got about 6-8 dishes and shared them all. It was fun!
Then through the rain, we ran to Smitten....Daniel's favorite ice cream spot. One of those high tech spots that you see on the food network. It was quite yummy.
On Tuesday, am, I found myself back on the plane, heading home.
I was waiting to watch for my bag, but since there were only about 55 people on the plane, they were shooing me out before they got started on the luggage.
I picked up the boys and then we made it home. Ah, all good....except that H was still in CA...
